Greenhaven Neighborhood Church
"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17(NIV)

About Us

Greenhaven Neighborhood Church has been serving the Sacramento area for over 50 years and relocated to the Greenhaven/Pocket area over 30 years ago. We are a biblically sound church that joyfully reaches out and builds meaningful relationships and Christ-centered lives. We envision the church as an authentic, active and growing church; one that attracts and impacts our community for Christ.

While the Church is autonomous and maintains the right to govern its own affairs, independent of any denominational control we too recognize the benefits of cooperation with other churches in world missions so we voluntarily affiliate with the U.S. Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in its national and district levels.

The Mennonite Brethren Church as part of God’s global Kingdom family has rich spiritual bloodlines that trace back into the heart of the 16th century Reformation. From the start, our spiritual forefathers were determined to hold to the Bible as the non-negotiable source of truth and to pursue radical obedience to that truth. We are unswervingly committed to these aspirations as well, although we know we have not always lived up to them.

The U.S. Conference of the church was established in 1954 and is truly a unique denomination, actually one of the most diverse in the country. Today half of our congregations worship in a language other than English on Sunday morning

What We Believe

Our understanding of God comes from the Bible.  We believe that Jesus calls the people of the church to think, speak, and live biblically. To do so, we commit to believing, studying, and obeying the Bible as our trustworthy and final authority.  (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).  Our confession of faith is a statement about what we believe the Bible has to say about living in our world today.  As a biblical people, we commit to resolving questions about God and how we are to live by asking, “What does the Bible say?” and “How do we apply Scripture so that it guides how we live in today’s world?”

We continually seek a biblical vision of the work and mission of Jesus for individuals and for the world.  Our passionate commitment is to live as God’s kingdom agents in the world, anticipating the glorious day when God’s kingdom is perfectly fulfilled.
